45°: Introducing… WarrenPeace

This Week Scroobius Pip’s label have announced the release date of the debut album from WarrenPeace – a two-piece who combine ‘substitute teacher fashion cred’, with ‘hitman chic’… Doc Martens and all. They also have an impressive cast of guest vocalists to call upon, including Pip himself, who prompts belief in the tooth fairy of all things.

We were lucky enough to catch WP’s only gig so far, last summer on a sweltering day in Dalston, supporting Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip at a warm-up gig for their 2013 tour. In announcing today’s news, Pip asked WP to prepare a simple video, during which they play all of the songs from the album… but in just 6 minutes (above).

WarrenPeace Live in Dalston

Watching the video will tell you more about this band than mere words can, and that includes the fact that we’ve had the demos at our disposal for the last 6 months. While six minutes of WP is mind-blowingly awe-inspiring, I can only urge you to get your pre-orders in now. This album will not disappoint, will be stuck in your ears for the rest of 2014, and will quickly become one of your favourites.

Rumours abound of a late-May showcase gig somewhere in Central London. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, and get your tickets while they’re hot. There won’t be many and I’ve a feeling that, if it happens, this gig may go down in music folklore when many more than the venue could hold will proclaim they were there. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this.
