Elevant announce details of their final show of 2014
Psych-rockers Elevant have announced the details of what is set to be a very special final show of 2014. As the band’s last gig of the year at Liverpool’s The Lomax, Elevant will return to their home town on the 28th of November to perform their forthcoming, as yet untitled, new album in its entirety.
Whilst the band’s self-titled début only dropped in September earlier this year, following their whirlwind tour of the UK, the band wasted no time in recording new material for their follow-up second record. The new album is not likely to see the light of day until at least Spring 2015, meaning that The Lomax show is a truly unique and unmissable opportunity for fans of the Liverpool trio to hear the new material before anyone else.
Speaking about the new material Edward has said the sophomore album will see the band push their sound to new limits: “It’s going further in every direction we’ve previously touched. The song-writing is better, some of it is heavier, some of it has acoustic guitars, some of it has odd time signatures, and the closer is a long noise rock instrumental in the vein of Lightning Bolt or Boredoms.”
But it seems the sky is not necessarily the limit for the new material as the band have taken inspiration from the final frontier itself: “There’s even one song that’s going to sample the recordings from NASA’s Voyager made in space.” said Edward.
As for the venue, The Lomax is an old haunt of Elevant’s and is where they have played some of their first and most memorable gigs. Speaking about the special event, front man and founder of the band Michael Edward said: “The Lomax has pretty much become our live home. Frank the owner is absolutely lovely, we never get ripped off and the atmosphere is always smashing. It’s a proper bastion of independence.”
