Tanya Tagaq unveils experimental cover of a Pixies classic – Listen!

Experimental Canadian artist Tanya Tagaq has unveiled a radical re-working of a classic Pixies song.

“Caribou”, a track that originally featured on the Come on Pilgrim EP by the classic alt-rock act in 1987, has been radically transformed by the Canadian solo artist and will feature as the second track on her forthcoming studio LP. The track can be listen to below.

The Inuit throat singer Tagaq will be releasing her third long-player ‘Animism’ in the UK on January 26th via Six Shooter Records (full tracklist below).

On September 22, ‘Animism’ was awarded Canada’s esteemed Polaris Music Prize. In true underdog fashion, Tagaq beat out major high profile names that included Arcade Fire and Drake. Tagaq first appeared on Bjork’s Medulla (2004) album and was featured in a segment of that tour. She has gone on to collaborate with the Kronos Quartet and released two Juno-nominated solo records (Sinaa and Auk/Blood).
