Gruff Rhys unveils latest single from American Interior – Video
Gruff Rhys has unveiled the video for “Lost Tribes”, the third single from his 2014 album American Interior.
“Lost Tribes” is said to be a song about the 18th century explorer John Evans and his misguided quest to find a lost Welsh tribe in the American interior. The tribe are thought to be descendants of the mythical 12th century prince – Madog. In this video directed by Dylan Goch (see below), the Super Furry Animal’s frontman dresses for the wilderness in the guise of a Welsh radical, inspired in particular by the druid and Chartist Dr. William Price, whilst Evans is represented by a 3 ft tall avatar in felt designed by Pete Fowler and the Felt Mistress.
Having just wrapped up a hugely successful UK tour, Gruff is preparing to head off for the European leg of his American Interior tour and will then travel to North America. He’ll be back in December though for a sold out dates in Dublin and Cardiff too where a new date has just been added due to popular demand.
