10 Must See Acts at Reading & Leeds Festival 2013

Biffy Clyro – Main Stage
This is finally Biffy’s year after years off working their way up the line up they are now top of the bill and it isn’t half deserved. Having subbed at Reading/Leeds and Download Festival in recent years they proved to everyone that they are headline quality with their performance at Sonisphere 2011.

They play Reading on Sunday 25th and Leeds on Friday 23rd.

Bring Me The Horizon – Main Stage
After releasing new album ‘Sempiternal’ this year to rave reviews from both critics and fans much is expected from them. Years of touring with bands like Machine Head and Bullet For My Valentine have certainly had an influence on them and despite having a relatively early spot on the main stage I am sure they will many people wondering what has just hit them.

They play Reading on Friday 23rd and Leeds on Saturday 24th.

Chuck Ragan – Lock Up/Rock Stage
Reading & Leeds favourites The Gaslight Anthem and this years Lock Up headliners Alkaline Trio are just a couple of bands that state Chuck Ragan as a major influence in their music. Chuck spent most of his time in Hot Water Music between 1993 – 2006 before going on hiatus to peruse a solo career. if I had to pick one act not to miss this guy is the one.

Chuck plays Reading on Saturday 24th and Leeds on Sunday 25th.

Chvrches – Festival Republic Stage
The Glaswegian band are still yet to release their first album but songs like ‘Gun’ and ‘Recover’ have already started to give them quite a following. They may be on the Festival Republic Stage and it looks they may well be clashing with Pop Punk heroes and this years headliners Green Day but they are definitely worth giving your time to.

They play Reading on Friday 23rd and Leeds on Saturday 24th.

Crossfaith – Lock Up/Rock Stage
Having supported Bring Me The Horizon earlier in the year, Japanese heavy metallers Crossfaith will support the release of their album ‘Apocalyze’ with an appearance on the Lock Up/Rock Stage.

They play Reading on Sunday 25th and Leeds on Friday 24th.

Deap Vally – NME Stage
Another band who have released a album on the run up to the festivals are the two piece rock band Deap Vally. Songs like ‘Baby I Call Hell’, ‘End Of The World’ are fan favourites and will no doubt be received well by fans when they play the NME stage this year.

They play Reading on Friday 23rd and Leeds on Saturday 24th.

Deftones – Main Stage
Not many bands have the experience that Deftones have and that definitely shows in their live performances. Following on from their recent sold out UK tour where they wowed audiences, the band will bring classics such as ‘Hole In The Earth’, ‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’ and ‘Back To School’ to the masses once again.

They play Reading on Friday 23rd and Leeds on Saturday 24th.

HAIM – NME Stage
After starting the year well by winning the BBC’s Sound of 2013, Haim have gone from strength to strength by touring around the world as well as appearing with the mighty Primal Scream at Glastonbury. If you haven’t already seen them, then now is the time. With their debut album about to be released the band are about to be propelled into the big time.

They play Reading on Sunday 25th and Leeds on Friday 23rd.

Nine Inch Nails – Main Stage
It seems Trent Reznor can’t bare to be away after announcing there hiatus in 2009 many people who surprised to see them return so soon. After recent appearances on the festival circuit that include Japan’s Fuji Rock as well as the prestigious Lollapalooza it safe to say they are still as explosive as ever and with new album ‘Hesitation Marks’ right around the corner expect to a few new songs thrown in to.

They play Reading on Sunday 25th and Leeds on Friday 23rd.

The Bronx – Lock Up/Rock Stage
One thing you can guarantee from The Bronx is high energy and straight up punk rock. Whereas with some bands you can have a lazy 40 minutes in the sun (or the rain in this country) The Bronx will grab you by the scruff of the neck and not let go until the end of the set.

They play Reading on Saturday 24th and Leeds on Sunday 25th.
